So I've been a little more active outdoors and in my yard this spring. Last summer I created a flower bed in front of C's bedroom. I planted a few things and some daffodil bulbs.
I was pleasantly surprised to see how quickly my daffodils sprouted up. I succeeded in not killing more plants! In fact, I GREW THEM.

You see, this is an achievement for me. I cannot keep a house plant alive for anything. My husband teases me that the only house plant I can grow is potatoes. (I forget they are there sometimes.)

But outside I am becoming a little garden enthusiast!

Last year my rose bush I planted four years ago reached 4 feet tall! I was so excited. It was thriving, it was constantly blooming and always had at least half a dozen heads on it. Then an early snow storm blew in and destroyed my rose bush under  3 feet of snow. It was still green and blooming. So this year... we are back to 8 inches tall. I am so bummed. It was my first big success in the plant raising venture. So I'm quite depressed over my rose bush. I was so proud of it.

This year, I am working on my aesthetic aspects of my yard. I have hell growing grass in my yard. And it's because there is so much red rock and shale on my lot. You can't dig without hitting rock. So I'm trying to spruce it up in other ways.

This past weekend I created a vertical flower bed out of a shipping pallet from the husband's work place. I painted it a gorgeous blue and filled it with annuals. :)

I plan on converting another pallet into smaller boxes to hang on my chain length fence. I'm trying to create a corner of the yard that is both for aesthetic value and to keep my dog from barking in the corner of the yard at passers by. I'll update on my project as I go. :)

So I'm now a mother of two monsters. One child was easy. She was an independent child who was low maintenance as far as supervision went. I could leave her in a room with glass tables, un-baby proofed electrical sockets and knives on a table and she would stay out of it. She would sit and do whatever appropriate activity she had.
My son however... We had to put bumpers on the edge of the tables, covers over the oven knobs, drawer locks throughout the whole house, and cabinet locks everywhere! I also have to push everything as far back on the counter as possible. He climbs tables, chairs, the back of couches, the dog, anything he can get ontop of. I am so glad I had C first. She was my easy baby. Now I have a monkey. And it is exhausting.

So when I am not chasing him around to get him out of trouble or redirect his attention, I am listening to him squeal because C doesn't want him playing with her things. She will run across the house to take a pony from him. And heaven forbid he touch her Monster High dolls. Now this leads to mommy wanting to pull her hair out over the weekends. I cannot imagine how it is for mothers with children closer together. I at least get 8-9 hours a day where C is at school and all is peaceful.

Poor B, he just wants to play with his sisters super cool things! But they do get along pretty well sometimes. She'll play with him every now and then and help him with things. I enjoy when she isn't yelling and crying over him using her things. That happens far less though.

Yes, son, it is edible.
So my son has decided he is going to take up after his sister and eat as slow as humanly possible. We've been fighting with her for at least 5 years now on how to eat like a normal human being in a timely manner.
He's started inspecting his food, pulling it a part and occasionally feeding the pets.
So our meal times last about an hour to two hours now. Mom and Dad both eat in about 10 minutes then you have these two monkeys taking their time. Maybe sloth is a better nickname? I think so.
Aside from taking his time eating he needs to dissect anything I give him. Quesadilla? Nope this is a taco and it is not to be sealed with cheese. Pizza? These toppings don't belong on top of this bread. Burger? Why do you keep putting foods together, woman?!
And as soon as he deems appropriate he will start dropping food off the side of his high chair. This is how my sloth eater displays in his own way that he is finished eating. And he always looks so amused to do so.
Of course, all of our pets think this is amazing and have all gained weight since B came into the family. He'll also just feed them to feed them if they come near his chair. Thanks, son.
